Google I/O 2024 announced for May 14: From AI to Google Pixel 8a, know what to expect

Google announced that it will hold its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2024, on May 14 this year. Last year’s conference focused on artificial intelligence (AI), with the Mountain View-based company unveiling MusicLM, bringing generative AI to search, and launching AI tools for Workspace. In addition to these announcements, Google also massively announced its first foldable smartphone, the Google Pixel Fold, as well as the more affordable Pixel 7a. Google I/O 2024: When?

Google has announced that its annual developer conference will kick off on May 14 at 10:30 pm (US Standard Time) or 10:00 am (Pacific Time). If last year’s trend continues, it will likely be held at the Shoreline Amphitheater at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Google I/O 2024 expected announcements

1. Artificial Intelligence- Artificial intelligence is likely to be in the spotlight again at this year’s conference, especially after Google made several major AI announcements this year, including its large language model (LLM) series Gemini and Gemma. The company recently sparked controversy over inaccurate Gemini image generation. So it will be interesting to see how it develops as the company navigates these tricky waters.

2. Pixel 8a – The tech giant may also showcase its upcoming budget smartphone Pixel 8a. This will be the latest addition to the Google Pixel 8 series, which already includes the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. In January, a purported Pixel 8a retail box was spotted online, suggesting the rumored smartphone would feature a Pixel 8-like design. is this real? We don’t know yet.

3. Android 15 – Android 14 started rolling out last year and more and more devices are using it. What does it mean? We may see some Android 15-related launches or announcements at Google I/0 2024, especially now that preview phase 1 seems to have begun.
