“Good initiative, but should have been called Parliament session”: Mehboba Mufti on All-party delegation to visit major partner countries

Pipuls Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehboba Mufti on Sunday welcomed the Central Government’s decision to send a supreme delegation to major global capitals for various countries on India-Pakistan tension.

Mufti said that the diplomatic outreach is a good step by India in view of Operation Sindoor, but the Center should be called a Parliament session and a discussion with MPs was held.

“It is very good to take diplomatic steps abroad. It is not time for war, and diplomatic initiatives should be taken. But first, they should have called the Parliament session. First, they should have spoken to our own people – should have discussed with MPs.”

“A delegation could have been sent, but after open discussion in Parliament. If you cannot talk openly in your Parliament, how will you talk to people outside the country?” He said.

The all-party delegation will project India’s national consent and firm approach to combat terrorism in all forms and manifestations. He used to carry forward the strong message of the country of zero tolerance against terrorism in the world.

Members of Parliament from various parties, major political personalities and reputed diplomats will be part of each delegation.

The list includes MPs from several parties, divided into seven groups of 8–9 members. A leader is assigned to each group, which will lead the delegation globally.

It came after India’s decisive military response to the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April. Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May, targeted the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, killing more than 100 militants associated with terrorist organizations such as Jai-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Tabiba and Hizbul Mujahine.

After the attack, Pakistan attempted drone attacks with the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as border areas, after which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centers and air areas at 11 airbase in Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, Mufti visited the border village of Tangdhar in Kupwara district of North Kashmir and called for immediate relief, extended compensation and long -term rehabilitation for the affected residents.

Talking to reporters after meeting the local people, Mufti expressed concern over the damage caused by cross -border shelling, stating that while the exterior of many houses appeared intact, internal structures were severely compromised.

“People are suffering from damage. People are complaining that in many places, the structure of the house remains intact, but it is damaged from within due to shelling and the officials of the revenue department have not paid proper attention to it. The compensation of Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand is not enough. The government should increase financial assistance.”

“Their houses are damaged and they do not even want to war. They want peace. What is their fault on war? It is unfortunate that at one time when they were demanding schools and hospitals, they are forced to demand individual bunkers. It is the failure of both nations that they go for a time for the insurance of their homes, if they say they tell that they tell that they tell that they are telling that they are telling that the war and they are suitable for Provides package, “he said.
