A CBI official said that New Delhi, September 19 (IANS) would play a major role in the fight against crime and police cooperation in India Asian region, which said an official of the CBI, with an election as a member of the Interpol Asian Committee during the 25th Asian Regional Conference held in Singapore on Friday.
The election took place through a multi-step voting process, which is an important milestone in India’s association with international law enforcement cooperation, in a statement.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the National Central Bureau (NCB) for Interpol in India, which is serving as a national focal point for all interpol-related matters and facilitates international cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
The Federal investigating agency interpols notices, such as requests for red notice and procedures, and manage the Bharatpol portal for spontaneous interaction between Indian agencies and interpol channels.
The statement said the Interpol Asian Committee would advise the Asian Regional Conference in the execution of its mandate and facilitates discussion in the Asian Regional Conference session by providing a clear understanding of strategic and operational issues at stake.
The statement said that the committee will identify regional strategic priorities in the fight against the issues of crime and police cooperation for the region.
India’s membership will further increase regional cooperation, especially in addressing challenges such as organized crime, cyber crime, human trafficking, terrorism and drug trafficking, said this.
The CBI said that this achievement outlines India’s active participation in international policing initiatives, its commitment to global policing goals and efforts to strengthen security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
The achievement follows the history of Indian representation at the highest levels of Interpol and demonstrates India’s growing global leadership in law enforcement and international security matters.
The committee will get annually to discuss regional safety issues and provide guidance for coordinated works between member countries.
India was represented by a CBI delegation at the Asian Regional Conference. India’s victory has been held responsible for an intensive and coordinated campaign by Indian diplomats, embassies/high commissions, and the National Central Bureau (NCB-India), which has demanded significant support from friendly countries through bilateral and multilateral attachments, in the statement.
