A newly elected German mayor who Suffered life-threatening knife wounds Investigators say she was apparently attacked by her teenage daughter.
Iris Stalzer, 57, was elected as mayor of Western Germany City of Hradeke on 28 September.
She is scheduled to take charge in November.
On Tuesday, police said emergency services were alerted shortly after noon by her daughter, who reported that Ms. Stelzer had been seriously injured in an attempted robbery outside their home.
Police went to Ms. Stalzer’s home, where they found her sitting in a chair with multiple stab wounds.
He said that it seems that the attack took place inside the house.

At the home, investigators found two knives and clothing believed to have been used in the attack and took Ms. Stalzer’s 17-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son into custody.
Police investigator Jens Rautenberg said that when questioned on Tuesday evening, Ms Stalzer described her daughter as the suspect.
There was no immediate information about any family dispute that took place before the stabbing incident.
Mr Rautenberg declined to comment on a possible motive at a news conference in the nearby city of Hagen, saying it was still a matter of investigation.
