former chancellor george osborn Joining Artificial Intelligence Firm OpenAI This is the latest in a series of jobs he has got since leaving the government.
Mr Osborne will be the managing director and head of OpenAI for countries, based in London.
He said it was “the most exciting and promising company in the world right now” and that he would lead its work with governments around the world.
Mr Osborne, Chancellor for 2010–16, said the OpenAI for Countries initiative aims to help “societies around the world share the opportunity brought by this powerful technology”.
The former chancellor is co-host of the Political Currency podcast, chair of the British Museum, co-chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership and an advisor to cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
He said he was leaving his job as senior managing director at investment bank Evercore to take on the OpenAI role.
In a series of jobs since going Parliament In 2017, Mr Osborne was previously editor of evening standard and held positions at financial firms BlackRock and Robbie Warshaw.
