Nagpur, October 6 (IANS) Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawanakul on Monday conducted a surprising raids in response to several complaints in the office of sub-registrar in Nagpur, demanding bribe from citizens from the authorities.
Despite the implementation of the digital registration process, complaints indicated that some officials were withdrawn and engaged in corrupt practices.
During the raid, Minister Bawanool exposed the cash hidden in an officer’s desk drawer, which increases serious concerns about the ongoing misconduct, in a release issued by the Minister’s Office.
Police has been called to initiate a comprehensive investigation in this case.
Minister Bavanakul has appealed to the citizens to come forward with complaints if they face any demand for bribery.
“We are committed to reducing corruption and ensuring transparency in all government processes,” he said.
“I encourage the public to report any such misconduct directly to the officials without any hesitation,” he said.
The Maharashtra government is stable in its zero-oppression policy towards corruption. The minister said that further updates will be provided as the investigation proceeded.
Bavanakul’s raid comes at a time when the state government is implementing the 150-day program to completely change the administration.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently said that everything will be digital, will be more automatic on the same platform.
He said, “My focus is more on e-governance. In my last 10 years, we have brought a lot of government services online, but now I want end-to-end digital governance,” he claimed.
He also claimed that if someone wants anything from the government, they do not need to travel to an office.
He said, “We are also putting it on WhatsApp. Now we have an MoU with Meta, which is also providing a payment gateway. Finally, we know that technology is something that enhances efficiency, brings transparency. It is also a level,” he claimed.
