Gary Neville has reminded supporters on Twitter of ‘not wanting’ Antonio Conte as Manchester United manager following his epic rant at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

After Spurs let a 3-1 lead slip to draw 3-3 at relegation-threatened Southampton, including a stoppage-time James Ward-Prowse penalty, Conte unleashed at how Tottenham have been run as a club over the years, from top to bottom.

From Tottenham’s lack of trophies to their lack of ambition, the outspoken Italian made it clear that he thinks those at the top of the tree at Hotspur Way are responsible for their lack of trophy-winning experience.

Under Daniel Levy’s stewardship as chairman, Spurs have won only one trophy, and this current campaign will again finish trophyless.

Whilst the fire is burning in north London, it’s cosier over in Manchester and at Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag, who has brought the feel-good factor back at Manchester United after being appointed in the summer.

Nonetheless, prior to Manchester United bringing in ten Hag, they had a chance of sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and hiring Conte, who was a free agent, at the time, after leaving Inter Milan.

Many questioned, including the likes of Jamie Carragher, why Man United didn’t go with the ‘serial winner’ but, at the time, Gary Neville was having none of it and felt that he didn’t suit his club, well, he’s been proven right now.

At first, you can read a reminder of what was previously said about Conte from Neville and Carragher, before the former right-back’s five-word response following that rant yesterday.

CONTE SPEAKING THE TRUTH

If Conte is indeed sacked by Daniel Levy tomorrow, next week or next month, one thing that can’t be denied, is that he is speaking the truth about Spurs.

That’s two trophy-winning coaches they have had in their dugout, yet both will head for the exit door empty-handed.

Many different managers of different styles have been in the dugout, and also different players out on the pitch.

But, the same chairman in Daniel Levy and owner in Joe Lewis, yet the same results. It’s pretty simple what and where the issues lie.
