Jaipur, Garba Venue has announced strict admission rules at 22 September (IANS), with Sharadia Navratri festivals starting on Monday. The organizers said that after the Pratihara card verification, the participants would be allowed only to enter, while traditional rituals and dress codes will also be applied.
This year, more than 60 Garba places and 12 Dandiya workshops are being organized at Bhilawara.
Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal said that their volunteers would be deployed at the gate to check the Aadhaar card, apply tilak and ensure compliance. Banners highlighting community restrictions will also be placed at the entrance.
The organizers have also decided that the Ganges water and cow’s urine will be sprayed at places to “maintain purity”, while women have been urged to wear traditional dress instead of jeans or T-shirts.
Sharadia Navratri, which started from Monday, will run for 10 days this year. With a celebration in the Mata temples, the Garba pandals dedicated to Goddess Durga have been installed on the neighborhood and roads.
Bajrang Dal co-divisional coordinator Ashish Dadich claimed that the purpose of measures is to curb the events of “Love Jihad”. He alleged that outsiders misuse the incidents of garba, which “disturb and greed” women. “Navratri is a Hindu festival; there is no place for outsiders. This year, security has been tightened,” he said.
Women participants are being repeatedly urged to come in traditional dress.
Former councilor and organizing committee member Khushboo Shukla said, “All days of Navratri are dedicated to Matru Devi. Women should wear minor clothes like traditional dress, not jeans or short tops.”
Councilor representative Devendra Hada said that preparations had started about 15 days ago. “The steps taken by Hindu organizations are commendable. Clear instructions have been issued, and arrangements have been made accordingly,” he said.
