Varanasi, October 16 (IANS) Preparations for the world famous Dev Diwali are in full swing in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This year, the banks of Ganga will be illuminated with about one million lamps on the ghats of Varanasi. Muslim women of Varanasi, a beautiful example of Ganga-Jamuni culture, are playing an important role in this holy festival.
These women are preparing one lakh lamps from cow dung, which will be lit on the ghats during Dev Diwali. For the last 15 days, about 300 women have been working in different groups to make these lamps. He says that he feels proud to contribute to brightening up Varanasi with his handmade creations. This initiative is a unique symbol of Varanasi’s culture of unity and harmony.
BJP leader Huma Bano said, “We will also make one lakh lamps and distribute them among the people.”
Khurshida Bano, a social worker, said, “We have been making these lamps using cow dung for the last 15 days. Through this, I want to give the message of unity between Hindus and Muslims.”
Maintaining its tradition of organizing a grand Dev Diwali in Varanasi, the Uttar Pradesh administration is preparing to celebrate the occasion in a more grand manner.
One of the major attractions this year will be the 1 lakh eco-friendly lamps that will illuminate the crescent-shaped ghats of Kashi on November 5. The state government is considering another record-setting number of 10 lakh lamps, which will illuminate the river Ganga in Kashi on the occasion and dazzle the world with divine light.
Among them, 1 lakh eco-friendly lamps crafted from cow dung will add a traditional and sustainable touch to the divine spectacle.
This year’s festival promises to be historic – a mesmerizing union of faith, celebration and environmental consciousness.
Lakhs of devotees and tourists from India and abroad are expected to flock to Varanasi to witness this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.
With over 10.10 lakh Diyas – designer lamps, eco-friendly creations and glowing lines lining the ponds and ponds – the city will shine brighter than ever.
To add to the grandeur, the ghats are being decorated with outdoor illuminations, decorative lights and special cleaning drives to ensure that Kashi offers an unforgettable blend of divinity and grandeur.
Ahead of Dev Diwali, a four-day cultural festival – Ganga Mahotsav will be organized at Rajghat from November 1 to 4, showcasing the talent of local artists. To further enrich the experience, a laser show at Chet Singh Ghat will narrate the mythological stories of Kashi.
Also, pollution-free green fireworks on the sands of Ganga will give the message of environmental protection.
Every year, Dev Diwali transforms Kashi into a bright canvas of faith, culture and tradition. With hotels, guest houses, boats, cruises and boats booked at full capacity, the city is all set to welcome devotees and tourists eager to witness this divine spectacle in all its grandeur.
