Koppal (Karnataka), November 17 (IANS) An incident of gang rape came to light in Karnataka’s Koppal district on Monday and the police arrested four people in this connection.
The incident has been reported from Yalaburga police station area.
The arrested persons have been identified as Laxman and Basavaraj, residents of Gajendragarh, and Mutturaj and Shahikumar, residents of Yalaburga.
According to the police, the incident took place in a dilapidated house near Maddura on Sunday.
In her complaint to the police, the victim said she knew one of the accused, Laxman, to whom she owed Rs 5,000. On the pretext of returning the money, he called him to Kusthagi town. He took him on the bike and mixed some substance in the juice and made him drink it. Later, other accused along with Laxman committed the crime.
Police have registered a case under sections 115(20), 70, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

On October 23, three men were arrested for raping a 30-year-old woman from West Bengal in Bengaluru; Three other people who were fleeing were later arrested. The woman lodged a complaint, following which a police team led by Superintendent of Police CK Baba reached the spot, took stock of the situation and caught the three accused within a few hours in an overnight operation.
According to the police, the accused along with three others entered the woman’s house, threatened her of dire consequences and demanded money and valuables, including two mobile phones and Rs 25,000 in cash. While three of the accused allegedly raped her, the others kept watch.
A mentally challenged woman was allegedly gang-raped in Karnataka’s Hassan, with the accused allegedly video recording the act. The incident came to light on August 9, when the victim’s brother lodged a complaint with the Hassan police.
According to the complaint, the victim’s brother found a video clip on her mobile phone, which allegedly showed his sister being gang-raped.
