‘Fulfilling oath’: BJP’s Pawan Singh now says he will oppose Lok Sabha polls

Singh did not specify which constituency he would contest from.

Bhojpuri singer-actor Pawan Singh, who had expressed his inability to contest the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal’s Asansol, a day after the BJP announced the name of his constituency, on Wednesday In a U-turn, he said he would win the polls. Fulfill his promise to his mother.

Although he did not specify the reasons for his decision not to contest from Asansol, his candidacy drew criticism from the Trinamool Congress, which claimed that some of his songs were vulgar and depicted women, including those from Bengal, in a vulgar manner.

The BJP pits him against actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, a Trinamool Congress MP from Asansol in the outgoing Lok Sabha.
