Every year, London Design Festival (LDF) transforms the city into a platform for creativity, reaffirming its status as a global design capital. FOCUS/25 is held at the center of the action Design Centre, Chelsea Harbor – A center dedicated to the world of interior design.
As Britain’s most visionary designers, makers and brands present their latest collections at LDF, shaping the mood and direction of the upcoming season, here are this year’s key trends…
seventies style
The seventies revival shows no signs of fading — and the look has evolved far beyond shag carpet and avocado green. “Today’s seventies-inspired spaces feature warm ocher hues and rich walnut woods, plush velvets, soft curves and sculptural lighting,” says Claire German, chief executive of The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.

“This look has been gaining momentum for some time and its influence continues to grow.”
Wood is at the heart of this trend; Especially deep, chocolatey tones. “Darker woods like walnut are taking center stage,” notes interior designer rebecca hughes“Their depth and natural texture bring warmth and sophistication, adding a sense of timeless luxury to any space.”
She recommends striking a careful balance: “Pair the material with light walls, soft neutral upholstery, or a well-chosen pop of color to make the room feel open and vibrant. Think walnut decor with cream walls, or a dark wood kitchen table lined with earthy green tiles.”
dream economy
In a fast-paced world of constant connectivity, comfort has become a new status symbol. Sleep is being viewed not just as a necessity, but as the ultimate form of self-care – a luxury that underpins well-being. Consumers are no longer satisfied with just having a comfortable bed; They’re investing in high-performance mattresses, ergonomically designed pillows, and carefully crafted sleep environments that rival the pleasures of spas.
Claire Schifano, global marketing director at luxury mattress manufacturer Wispring, explains: “Your bed is arguably the most important piece of furniture you will buy as it affects the quality of your sleep and, in turn, your overall health and well-being.

“Statistically, the average person spends a third of their life sleeping, and more than ever, people are realizing that it’s worth investing in the best bed you can buy.”
art deco echo
Art Deco is also coming firmly into the spotlight this season, but with a fresh, vibrant update. “The Art Deco revival celebrates symmetry, bold geometry and luxurious materials, from lacquered cabinets and mirrored accents to marble-topped consoles – all softened with muted tones and cozy layouts for a more current feel,” says German.
For Hughes, reflective surfaces stand out as a major trend. “We’re seeing a renewed love for antique mirrored finishes and it’s easy to understand why. Their gently crafted patina is more than just a superficial detail – it’s a narrative, a visual story that connects past and present. Each imperfection catches the light differently, adding depth and movement while softening the reflections with a romantic haze.”
She also highlights the growing popularity of lacquered finishes. “They are a great way to brighten a dark or compact space such as a dressing room. The glossy look reflects light, creates the illusion of spaciousness, and adds a sense of sophistication – transforming an ordinary surface into a luxurious, eye-catching detail.”
rise of graffiti wallpaper
Graffiti wallpapers provide a sense of immersion that goes beyond traditional repetitive patterns and ditty prints. From sweeping landscapes to art-inspired designs, they bring instant drama – and the appetite is clear with textiles and more furniture brand andrew martin Mural wallpaper sales are reportedly growing 32% year-on-year.
“Graffiti wallpaper has really come back into its own – we’re seeing a huge shift as people are looking for ways to create bolder, more expressive choices at home,” says David Harris, design director at Andrew Martin. “Far from the one-dimensional feature walls of the past, today’s murals feel intense and creative with natural landscapes and picturesque panoramas that bring real character to a space.”

Practicality also increases attraction. “You get the full effect of a statement piece without needing to do anything structural—it’s a quick, transformative transformation,” says Harris. With the look of hand-painted artwork at a fraction of the cost, murals offer high-impact designs without the durability, making them a practical way to experiment with drama and scale.
