Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted India’s victorious women’s cricket team at his residence on Wednesday, November 5 and praised their determination, mental strength and historic ODI World Cup win.

The conversation, which took place two days after the 52-run final win over South Africa in Navi Mumbai, was a mix of inspiration, nostalgia and light-hearted exchanges.

Here are the top 5 such moments between PM Modi and India’s Women’s Cricket World Cup team:

1. Applause for flexibility amid trolling

PM Modi acknowledged India’s difficult start to the tournament, which included three opening defeats and the harsh criticism online that followed.

2. ‘Jai Shri Ram’- Symbol of strength

When PM Modi referred to Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma’s Instagram bio, “Jai Shri Ram” and her Lord Hanuman tattoo, she shared its personal meaning.

3. Personal Questions on Mindfulness

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur asked the Prime Minister how he remains completely present amid the constant pressures.

4. Light moments on the match-winning catch

PM Narendra Modi revisited memorable moments on the field, including Harleen Deol’s 2021 catch against England, which he had tweeted about earlier.

5. Fit India and inspire the next generation

Calling obesity a growing concern, PM Modi urged players to become ambassadors of fitness, especially for young girls.

This is a developing story…
