Srinagar, July 11 (KDC): The Department of School Education is likely to implement the time of the revised school in Kashmir from Monday, aimed at reducing morning challenges for students, especially young children.
According to media reports quoting Education Minister Saqina Itu, the government is considering a change in daily school schedule in response to the improvement in the weather raised by parents and teachers. The minister said, “There is a strong possibility that new time will be introduced from Monday.”
He said that if approved, schools falling within the border of Srinagar municipality will work from 8:30 am to 2:30 am, while schools in other districts and outside municipal areas will work from 9 am to 3 pm. He said that this decision is being taken in view of better weather conditions after recent rains, which reduced the temperature.
Earlier, schools had resumed summer brakes with short hours- 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm in urban areas and 8 am to 12 noon in rural areas. However, these times criticized the parents, who urged the department to either amend them or expand the summer holiday due to the rigorous heat.
Minister Sakina Itu also indicated that the department would review school time again in the coming months to adjust for early winter conditions. “We students are committed to comfort and will continue to decide based on seasonal changes,” he said.
