Diverse representation at the grand event: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra told news agency ANI that between 6,000 to 8,000 invitees would attend the gathering. “There are people who were never invited before. They will represent the class with whom Lord Ram dined and used his facilities. We have been hearing stories of Nishad ji and Shabari Mata since childhood. So, it is a huge community. They will all be here.”

What does the flag hoisting ceremony signify: The flag hoisting is a symbol of spiritual activation of the place. This marks the formal transformation of the structure from a construction project into a sacred and sovereign place of worship dedicated to Lord Rama. Unlike regular rituals, this ceremony serves as a public and religious declaration that the temple is now fully functional in its sacred role.

Meaning behind the temple flag: The right-angled triangular flag is ten feet high and twenty feet long. It features a glowing sun symbol, an ‘Om’ inscription and the Kovidara tree symbol, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. Surya represents the Suryavansh lineage and eternal power of Lord Rama. Om symbolizes universal spiritual vibration. The shape of the Kovidra tree symbolizes purity, prosperity and the concept of “Ram Rajya”. It is believed that the Kovidra tree is a hybrid of the Mandar and Parijat trees, which was created by sage Kashyap, as described in Valmiki Ramayana, which sheds light on the ancient knowledge of plant hybridization.

How is it different from Prana Pratistha: The flag hoisting ceremony is separate from the Pran Pratishtha ceremony held on January 22, 2024, in which the idol of Ram Lalla was consecrated inside the sanctum sanctorum. While Pran Pratishtha focused on infusing spiritual energy into the deity, the latest ritual marks the full activation of the temple as an architectural and sacred entity. All 44 doors of the temple will now be opened for regular rituals.

Why was November 25 chosen: This date falls on Vivah Panchami, which commemorates the marriage of Lord Ram and Sita. The ceremony also coincides with Abhijit Muhurta between 11:58 am and 1:00 pm, a time associated with divine significance in Hindu belief.

Who designed and created the flag: According to RSS publication Organiser, as quoted by News18, the flag was made in 25 days by a specialized parachute-fabric manufacturer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Premium silk thread and high-strength parachute-grade fabric were used to ensure durability in harsh weather conditions, including heavy sunlight, rain and high winds. The final design and technical details were established after consultation with senior Army officers. The flag has been engineered to withstand wind speeds of up to 60 kmph. It is installed on a 42-foot rotating mast, supported by nylon rope and equipped with an automatic hoisting system.
