Paris:
A set designer has lodged a complaint against French screen legend Gerard Depardieu over alleged sexual assault during the filming of a 2021 movie, his lawyer told AFP on Sunday.
Depardieu, 75, has been charged with rape in a separate case and accused of sexually harassing and assaulting more than a dozen women. He denies the accusations.
The complainant’s lawyer, Carine Durrieu-Diebolt, confirmed that she had forwarded the new complaint to the Paris prosecutor’s office on Friday, alleging sexual assault, harassment and abuse.
The Paris prosecutor’s office could not confirm whether a complaint had been filed, and Depardieu’s lawyers did not comment.
The 53-year-old survivor told online newspaper Mediapart that Depardieu made several vulgar remarks on September 10, 2021, before “cruelly grabbing her” and “kneading her waist and abdomen up to her breasts” “.
Reports say the events were interrupted by a bodyguard on the set of the film “Les volets verts” in Paris.
Another woman accused Depardieu of touching “her breasts and buttocks” twice on the same set in August 2021, Mediapart reported.
The repeated accusations against Depardieu have become a frontline in France’s culture wars, dividing the film community and pitting feminist groups against the actor’s defenders.
