Adolfo Silva has provided a positive update on his condition after his horrific accident red Bull Stampede.

A failed double backflip saw the Spaniard fall on his head to the ground and roll towards a cliff, before a crowd surrounded him and he was loaded onto a stretcher before a rescue helicopter took him to hospital.
But despite suffering a lower back injury, Silva, affectionately known as ‘Loco’ (Spanish for crazy), is in good spirits, posting an update from his hospital bed in St. George, Utah.
“I want to thank everyone for their thoughts throughout the night after this first day in hospital,” he said. “I have a lower back injury and I am focused on recovery.
“It’s great to have my family here and feel the support of all of you guys.”
Silva’s crash brought a break in the competition before the remaining riders could start their second races, but another tragic incident occurred on Sunday when Emil Johansson was also airlifted to St. George’s Hospital, about 40 miles away.
The Swedish rider crashed off a steep cliff after attempting a tailwhip at the start of his race. The competition was stopped again for medical crews to extricate him from an inhospitable position on the ridge line.
Johansson wrote on social media on Monday: “I have a major dislocation in my right hip, which they managed to get back to the hospital… but will likely require surgery to clear the socket of bone fragments. Other than that, I’m pretty much okay!”
The competition is renowned for its difficult terrain and the extreme difficulty of the riders’ tricks and jumps.
