According to PTI report, the accused have been identified as Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimlesh Mahato, also known as Bimlesh Sahni (25), Manish Pathak (33) and Aman Thakur (21), all residents of Sitamarhi district and are believed to be members of ‘Sigma Gang’ according to the police.
According to an ANI report, the encounter took place at 2.20 am on Bahadur Shah Marg in Rohini between Dr Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk.
Speaking to ANI, Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar termed them as contract killers and said that they could have created disruptions in Sitamarhi and the upcoming Bihar elections.

“This gang was committing crimes almost every month. They were contract killers… They had named their gang ‘Sigma and Company’, and that alone reveals their intentions. Elections are about to be held in Bihar. We made a significant effort to gather information about this gang.”
He said, “Based on that information, a team of Sitamarhi Police was camping in Delhi and was trying to trace them in coordination with Delhi Police. It was in this connection that they were being stopped, following which an encounter took place. All 4 were killed.”
After retaliatory firing, the four accused were taken to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini, where doctors declared them brought dead. Police told PTI that the recent encounter was one of the biggest in Delhi in recent years.
According to Delhi Police, the four men were wanted for several heinous crimes including murder, extortion and organized criminal activity in the state, NDTV reported.
According to police sources, gang leader Ranjan Pathak ran an organized criminal network in parts of Bihar and neighboring states. A reward of ₹25,000 has been offered for the capture of Pathak. He was wanted in eight criminal cases, including five high-profile murders in Sitamarhi and surrounding areas of Bihar.
Further investigation is ongoing in this matter.
