Officials said on Monday that security forces in Imphal, 6 October (IANS) Manipur have arrested two separate banned organizations, two forcibly collectors and four terrorists belonging to two drug pedals, and recovered drugs worth Rs 6 crore during the last 24 hours.
A police officer said that as part of the rift on security forces, illegal terrorist groups, four terrorists belonging to the Kangilipak Communist Party (KCP) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)/Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) from Bishanupur and Imphal West Districts.
One of the oldest terrorist organizations in Manipur, PLA, is active with its political wing, RPF in most of the Imphal Valley region.
Arrested rebels were involved in recruiting youth for RPF/PLA, intermediaries through frightening of parties in recovery from people and government officials in the Imphal Valley area and in cases of loan recovery.
One of the four arrested terrorists, known as RPF/PLA Khangambam Mangalamba Singh alias Sunny (46) as a self-style lieutenant, will monitor the movement and attendance of security personnel and share information with his organization.
The official said the security forces arrested two drug pedals, who are identified as Mohammad Ethem Khan and Raju Khan, who are from their respective residences in Hinging in Imphal Eastern district.
From his possession, two kg of excessive drug addiction Mathamfetamine tablets were priced at more than Rs 6 crore and cash worth more than Rs 38 lakh.
The Manipur police arrested two persons, who were involved in extortion from vehicles running on Imphal -Dimapur National Highway (NH -2).
He was identified as Sarangathem Dinesh Singh (29) and Khundrakapam Mohan Singh (25) and arrested from Kenau Bazaar under Bishanupur district. From his possession, a two-wheeler and a mobile phone were recovered.
The official said that security forces continue to operate the search operations and domination of the area in fringe and weak areas in the districts.
The movement of 346 vehicles carrying essential commodities with Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) has been ensured without any event.
Strict security measures are taken in all weak places, and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles. According to the official, a total of 115 nakas/posts were established in various districts, both hills and valley regions, to prevent unpleasant and illegal movements of disqualified elements and suspected vehicles.
