Four more accused in violent robbery targeting South Asian and 2SLGBTQ+ victims in Brampton

The Peel Regional Police has accused four additional suspects in relation to a string of violent robbery in Brampton, targeting South Asian persons including 2SLGBTQ+ community members.

Between April and May 2025, police say the victims were lured through social media for an in-tradition meeting, where they were then robbed, at the tip of some guns. Investigators now believe that the suspects deliberately used false hypocrisy to woo the victims based on their identity.

On 31 May, investigators arrested and accused 20 -year -old Abhijeet Singh of Brampton and 21 -year -old Rhythmpreet Singh for Mississaga.

On July 4, the police carried out several search warrants in the Peel area, in which 18 -year -old Hardil Singh Mehrook of Brampton and two male youths were arrested at the age of 16 and 17.

The identity of youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A arrest warrant has also been issued for 20 -year -old Preetpal Kooner of Mississaga in connection with the same crime.

Crown Attorney’s office is reviewing the case to determine whether hate-inspired allegations have been warned. Anyone who knows about this incident is asked to contact investigators.
