Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that four drug pedals were arrested with narcotics in Sopore, North Kashmir.
A police spokesperson said, “Based on specific inputs received from the public, the Sopore Police launched a series of well-coordinated operations, including the arrest of four drug pedlers and materials such as codeine-based syrup and brown sugar for the seizure of drugs. Three different FIRs have been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.”
In the first incident at Edipora Crossing, a Rameez Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Hasan Mir, a resident of Edipora Sopore, was arrested with 13 bottles such as codine with a molesting label.
In the second operation, Wasim Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Hasan Mir, who is a resident of Edipora Sopore, was arrested in the Malpora-Warpora crossing while trying to escape from the Naka Point. A amount of substance like brown sugar was recovered from his possession.
In another important movement in the Chijma crossing, two persons-javid Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, and Bashir Ahmed Baba’s son Reje Ahmed Baba, both residents of Marjipora were arrested transporting codeine-based substances in a truck (JK05E-4845), which was also.
These arrests are part of the continuous action of the Sopore police on drug networks that endanger the lives of local youth.
SSP Sopore, confirming the commitment of the district police, said:
“These operations underline our zero-optimization policy against drug pedaling. Give it a strong message-An involvement of the business will have to face strict legal action. With public support, we are firm to get rid of this danger.”
