Three teenagers and a young woman have been arrested as part of the investigation of Marx and Spencer, Co-op and Harrodes cyber attacks.
National crime agency (NCA) said that four people were arrested on Thursday morning regarding the attacks held earlier this year.
The arrest included a 17 -year -old British man from West Midlands, a 19 -year -old Latvian man from West Midland, 19 -year -old British man from London and 20 -year -old British woman from Staffordshire.
All were arrested on suspicion of crimes related to blackmail, money laundering, crime Computer misuse act And participate in activities of one Organized crime group,
They were all arrested at their home address and were in custody.
It comes after investigation by NCA in attacks against three retailers, where hackers demanded ransom payment after breaking into their IT system.
Paul Foster, head of NCA’s National Cybercrime Unit, said: “Since these attacks took place, expert NCA Cyber Crime is working in investigators Paes and is one of the highest priorities of the investigating agency.
“Today’s arrest is an important step in that investigation, but our work continues, with the UK and the participants abroad, to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.”
