Four people have been arrested for screening a documentary at a restaurant here without valid permission and creating an atmosphere of disturbance of peace, police said on Sunday.
He said that the screening of the documentary ‘Ram Ke Naam’ was organized at Neredmet’s restaurant here on Saturday without any permission.
The case was registered under IPC sections including 143 (relating to unlawful assembly), section 290 (public nuisance), section 295A (deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). (including insulting).
According to the FIR, the complainant, who had gone to the restaurant with his friends, had said that a movie was playing and some people were discussing it.
He alleged that when he saw him, he found that all his actions and behavior were “anti-Hindu and hurtful to religious sentiments”, apart from making derogatory statements against Hindu religion. The complainant, who asked the management about it, further alleged that she was mistreated (by the organisers).
He claimed that the organizers deliberately organized the event to create communal issues before the Lord Ram temple event (in Ayodhya). Meanwhile, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi asked on Twitter whether Rachakonda Commissionerate police could explain why the screening of the documentary was stopped midway. Owaisi said, “Can Rachakonda Cop please explain why the screening of Ram Ke Naam documentary was stopped midway and 3 people were arrested?”
“How is screening an award-winning documentary a crime? If this is so, then the Government of India and Filmfare should also be sent to jail for giving awards to the film. Please let us know if we need a pre-screening certificate from the police before watching the movie,” he said.
