Gregor townsand Assuming that he has found the right replacement for Steve tandi After appointing former rugby league player Lee Redford as Scotland’s new defense coach.
The British will play the role emptied by Tandi, who spent more than five years on the Townsand’s Backroom staff before leaving in July, to become the head coach of Wales.
Redford will add its new position Scotland Northampton’s role as the defense coach of Northampton by the end of this season before the end of this season before the end of the 2027–28 campaign.
Head Coach Townsend told Scottish rugby: “We gave great importance to bringing high quality replacement for Steve Tandy as our defense coaches and Lee fit the bill completely.
“Lee brings a treasure of experience from the Rugby League and Union on the defensive area of the game and will be able to construct good work done in that area over the years.
“He will really fit in our environment and I believe that our player will react positively to Lee’s beliefs and ideas around the defensive side of the game, and the mentality required to win at the highest level.
“We are eager to work with him as a coaching group and learn from his adequate knowledge and experiences.”
Redford, who used to play for plow FC and Bradford Bulls, first gave coaching Castleford Tigers, Samoa and Hul in the Rugby League.
A 46 -year -old Scotland joins the coaching team including Forward Coach, John Delzil, Skills and Contact Coach Pete Horn and Scrum Coach Peter de Villiers.
“I always aspire for the coach on the international stage within the Rugby Union and is an incredibly proud moment to get that opportunity with a nation like Scotland,” said Redford.
“I have visited the Scotland camp over the last few years and have come with a great spirit about the place. The management is well connected and it is a tight sports group. It is a great chemistry and it is very important.
“Scotland has been a very defensive sound over the years and in comparison to how they protect it, there are similarities. NorthamptonMy job will have to continue with that harmony along with connecting some of my touch. ,
Redford will join Scotland for the first time for his autumn tests against the United States, New Zealand, Argentina and Tonga next month.
