The husband of a former Miss Switzerland finalist has been charged with her murder after a horrific murder that has shocked the country.
The mutilated body of Christina Joksimovic, a mother of two, was found at her home. near Basel, Switzerland, In February 2024.

According to the federal court, Ms. Joksimovic’s husband confessed to killing his wife in March 2024, but argued that he was acting in self-defense after she came at him with a knife. A court ruling in September concluded that she had been strangled to death.
Investigators allege that the suspect has demonstrated a “remarkably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy, and cold-heartedness.”
Prosecutors announced on Wednesday that they have now filed charges of murder and disturbing the peace of the deceased after a lengthy investigation into Ms Joksimovic’s death.
The 43-year-old suspect remains in custody, with a trial date to be determined. Due to privacy laws he has been identified in the Swiss media only as ‘Thomas’, who may use a first name or a pseudonym.
“The Basel-Landschaft Public Prosecutor’s Office has completed its criminal investigation into the suspected murder in Binningen on February 13, 2024,” the prosecutor’s statement said.
“It has filed charges of murder and disturbing the peace of the dead against a 43-year-old man at the Basel-Landschaft Criminal Court. The accused remains in custody and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
“Based on the results of the criminal investigation, the Basel-Landschaft public prosecutor’s office believes that the accused murdered his wife in their shared residence in Binningen. The public prosecutor’s office is not releasing any further details about the circumstances of the crime.”

Ms. Joksimovic, a Serbian native of Binningen, won the Miss Northwest Switzerland pageant and was a Miss Switzerland finalist before beginning her coaching career.
Former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi paid tribute to Ms Joksimovic after her death was first reported.
