On Monday, Singapore’s Indian-born former Transport Minister S Iswaran was charged with eight new charges in an alleged corruption case, bringing the total number of charges he currently faces to 35.

According to Channel News Asia, the eight new charges were filed under Section 165 of the Penal Code and include accusations that he obtained valuables, including bottles of whiskey, golf clubs, from a man named Lum Kok Seng. and a Brompton bicycle.
The total value of the items was S$18,956.94 (US$14,080), the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said in a separate statement on Monday.
When these transactions took place, Iswaran, who was then Transport Minister, handled Lum’s business with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) through his company, Lum Chang Building Contractors.
The new charges allege that Iswaran received valuable gifts from Lum between November 2021 and November 2022, when Lum was focused on the performance of the T315 contract for the existing Tanah Merah (Mass Rapid Transit) station and existing viaduct.
