Former county cricketer Ricardo Gordon has been charged by police after a knife was allegedly found in a car which was suspected to be stolen.
After this, 34-year-old Gordon was arrested on Monday. West Midlands Police While on patrol on Sutton Road in Erdington, Birmingham, a vehicle was stopped and searched.
A knife was reportedly found in the car and the Jamaican-born fast bowler was taken into custody.
The former Warwickshire star has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court next month.
A police spokesperson said: “Operation Skybridge officers continue to carry out proactive enforcement across Birmingham, where they target criminals and disrupt crime.
“Deployed in different areas of the city, they have already achieved some important results.”
Gordon, who moved to England at the age of seven, spent five years in the Warwickshire setup after being recognized as a player to watch at the age of 15.
He also represented the Birmingham Bears in T20 matches and was part of the squads that won the T20 Blast in 2014 and the One-Day Cup in 2016, before being released later that year.
During his career, he played alongside some famous names, including Ashes-winning England pair Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott.
