For Bangladesh’s “minority” comment on Bengal, India replied “Focus …”

India has slammed Bangladesh’s comment on violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal during a protest against amendment in Waqf Act. Calling Dhaka’s “unfair comments” and “virtuous signaling”, Delhi has advised its East neighbor to focus on the defense of minorities in their country.

Rejecting the alleged efforts of its implication in the violence on April 8, Bangladesh Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said, “We urge India and West Bengal to take all steps to completely save the minority Muslim population.”

In response, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said Bangladesh’s remarks “There is a parallel and disgusting effort with India’s concerns over the ongoing oppression of minorities in Bangladesh, where criminal criminals of such acts continue to be freed”.

In addition, India came back to Bangladesh and asked the country to focus on protecting the rights of its minorities. This comment gave importance as the Foreign Minister K. Jaishankar informed the Parliament last month that 2,400 examples of atrocities against religious minorities against religious minorities in 2024 since the political upheaval started, Bangladesh were in Bangladesh, and the number was 72 in 2025 so far.

The Center’s response comes one day on West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose, announced an official visit to Violence-in Murshidabad, announced “imposing peace at any cost”.

Chief Minister Banerjee claimed that the general situation was gradually returning, urged the Governor to postpone his visit.
