Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Following the instructions of Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, the Food Safety Department investigated the market across the city to ensure the highest food security and hygiene standards in all areas.
A team led by Assistant Commissioner, Yameen -ul -Nabi conducted intensive inspections of bakery shops in various areas of Srinagar district, including Safa Kadal, Sarakafar, Navakadal, Rajori Kadal, Noveta and other areas.
During inspections, some products were found dated and were voluntarily destroyed by the food business operators (FBOs).
The main purpose of the drive is to maintain a close vigilance on the quality of food products manufactured and sold at retail stores.
To ensure that all food products meet the highest safety standards, the Food Safety Department directed all FBOs to follow food safety criteria and storage practices.
The department said that any FBO compromised with quality or storage practices, which would be strictly dealt with as per the provisions of the Food Safety Act.
