Another witness told police he saw a man get into a car who appeared confused, FOX35 Orlando reports.
“He kept asking for a light,” the witness said.
“I thought, how does he have a BMW if he doesn’t even have a cigarette lighter?”
While the sheriff was investigating a car theft, they received information that a BMW had crashed at the intersection of North US Highway 1 and Plantation Oaks Boulevard in Ormond Beach.
Volusia sheriff’s body camera footage shows Curtis-Johnson bleeding on the side of the road, saying, “I don’t know how I got in the car” as the sheriff approaches him.
When the sheriff asked Curtis-Johnson where he got the car, the 36-year-old said he didn’t know.

After being acquitted, Curtis-Johnson was scheduled to be taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
