an ex United Airlines flight attendant He was taken for treatment after drinking 10 times the legal limit on a flight, a court heard.
Margit Lake, 56, was treated by paramedics at Heathrow after the Boeing 777 she was working on crashed after arriving from San Francisco on October 17.
The cabin crew member was later taken to hospital. It is alleged that his blood alcohol level was 216 mg, which was 10 times the legal limit of 20 mg for operating on an aircraft.
Appearing at Uxbridge Magistrates Court, the prosecutor told Ms Lake that her alcohol consumption posed a “clear risk to herself and other passengers”. Sun Informed.
A California-based flight attendant was accused of drinking several small bottles brought on board the plane before a 10-hour flight.
Ms Lake had a 26-year career with United, but surrendered her registration almost immediately after the incident.
Her defense said she felt “isolated” and “struggling with grief” before the flight.
“He drank because he needed to get sober,” said solicitor Ben Lansbury.
He added, “Whatever happened came as a shock to him.” “He deeply regrets what happened.”
The court heard that when paramedics boarded the plane at Terminal 2 they “smelled alcohol on his breath” and found that his blood pressure was low.
According to the newspaper report, Ms Lake admitted to performing an aviation ceremony while under the influence of alcohol.
However, the court also heard that despite his consumption there was no disruption to the flight.
Instead of receiving a possible jail sentence, Ms Lake was told to pay a £1,461 fine, a £584 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
The incident comes just a month after an air steward working for Scandinavian Airlines admitted trying to board a flight at Heathrow while drunk and more than 12 times over the limit.
Jessica Costacopoulou, 43, was stopped by security in Terminal 2 on March 22 because she “appeared unsteady on her feet and was slurring her words” and smelled of alcohol.
In September, a magistrates’ bench fined the defendant £623, including a victim surcharge and legal costs, to be paid in monthly instalments, as his remorse was “genuine”.
Independent United and Heathrow Airport have been contacted for comment.
