India and Mumbai Indians (MI) speedster Jasprit Bumrah scored five wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The wicket-taking performance has shone in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bumrah ended the innings with figures of 5/21 in four overs. His economy rate is 5.20. He took the crucial wickets of opener Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis and later Mahipal Lomro The scalps of Mahipal Lomror, Saurav Chauhan and Vijaykumar Vyshak. This is the first five-match series against RCB in the history of IPL. Bumrah has surpassed Harbhajan Singh and is among the top 10 wicket-takers in the history of the league. In 125 games, he took 155 wickets at an average of 22.56 and a strike rate of 18.46. His best bowling figures are 5/10. Harbhajan, meanwhile, has 150 wickets in 163 games.

In the ongoing IPL 2024, Bumrah is now the purple cap defender with 10 wickets in 5 games at an average of 11.90 and best figures of 5/21.

Arriving at the game, Mi chose to bowl first after winning the toss. After dismissing Virat (3) and Will Jacks (8) early on, MI batsmen were beaten by captain Faf du Plessis (61 off 40 balls with four boundaries and three six balls) and Raja Patidhar (50 off 26 balls, with three fours and four sixes). Both scored 82 runs for the third wicket. Finally, some great shots and shots from Dinesh Karthik (53* off 23 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes) took RCB to 196/8 in 20 overs .

Apart from Bumrah (5/21), Shreyas Gopal, Gerald Coetzee and Akash Madhwal also took one wicket each.
