First ever: Virat Kohli is only Indian to set all-time T20 record Cricket News

Star Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli scored his 100th T20 50+ score, becoming the first and only third Indian player to achieve this feat. Virat reached the milestone during RCB’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kings XI Punjab (PBKS) at the Chinaswamy Stadium. In this match, the 35-year-old was back to his best after a disappointing performance against the Chennai Super Kings. He scored 77 runs off 49 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. He scored over 157 runs.

In 378 games, Virat has scored 12,092 runs at an average of 41.26 with 8 centuries and 92 fifties. His best score is 122*. Virat is India’s leading T20 runner and is ranked sixth overall.

In terms of most fifty-odds, above Virat are: West Indies batting great Chris Gayle (110 fifties, including 22 centuries) and Australia great David Warner (109 fifties, including eight centuries).

Coming to the match, Kings XI Punjab (PBKS), fielded by RCB, saw their batsmen starting the innings but none could convert it into something great. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan (45 off 37 balls with five fours and one six), Jitesh Sharma (27 off 20 balls with one four and two sixes) and Sam Curran (17 23 off 1 ball) batted well but in the batting-friendly Chinnaswammy, PBKS could only manage 176/6 in 20 overs.

Mohammed Siraj (2/26) and Glenn Maxwell (2/29) each took two scalps. Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph took one wicket each.

Chasing 177, RCB continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, but Virat (77 off 49 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes) steadied the team at the other end. After his dismissal, things got tricky for RCB but Dinesh Karthik (28* from 10 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes) and Mahipal Lomror (17* from 8 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six )’s finish led the team to a four-wicket victory with four balls remaining.
