Firefighters are struggling with a “important” explosion in a factory after 20 ton tires, allegedly caught fire in the West Middlelands.
More than 70 firefighters are in factory on the Great Bridge Street, between Tipton and West Bromwich, after, in the factory West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) was called to the scene around 10.40 pm.
Seventeen fire engines have been sent to the site with several expert resources. There have been no casualties.
The members of the public warned to stay away from the area, as the fire has sent a thick pile of smoke to the air. A social media user posted on X that it can be seen from a distance BilstonAbout four miles away.
WMFS stated that the fire included a single story unit measuring 100 meters to 100 meters. He said that with the support of the police and ambulance service, good progress was being made in dealing with the blasts. Firefighters are working to spread the fire and prevent explosion.
A drone team was on the site with a hydraulic aerial platform and a high volume pump team.
Local residents and businesses have been advised to keep doors and windows closed, as there are large parts of smoke in the area.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said:
“We have 15 crew in the Great Bridge Street, Great Bridge, where they have responded to a factory fire. Please avoid the area where possible.”
