Panchkula, Oct 21 (IANS) An FIR has been lodged against former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa, his wife and former minister Razia Sultana, his daughter and daughter-in-law in the death of their son Akil Akhtar. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.
Akil Akhtar reportedly died in Panchkula on the night of 16 October. According to the police, he was found unconscious at his residence in Sector 4, MDC, by his family members, who immediately took him to Civil Hospital, Sector 6.
However, upon reaching there the doctors declared him dead.
A case has been registered under sections 103(1) and 61 (BNS) at Mata Mansa Devi Police Station, Panchkula and investigation has been started against the four accused family members.
This development comes at a time when Shamsuddin Chaudhary, a neighbor of Malerkotla, held a press conference and made serious allegations and later submitted a complaint to the Panchkula Police Commissioner.
He also handed over a video recorded by Akil Akhtar before his death, which has since surfaced online, making shocking claims. In the video, Akil accused his father, former DGP Mohammad Mustafa, of having illicit relations with his wife and made serious allegations against his mother Razia Sultana and sister, claiming that they were conspiring against him.
After Akil’s death, the family claimed that he died due to drug overdose. However, the emergence of a video purportedly recorded on August 27 has raised new questions over the circumstances surrounding his death.
Earlier, the police had said that preliminary findings suggested that Akhtar may have suffered health complications due to taking “some medication (possibly in overdose)”.
Mohammad Mustafa, who retired from Punjab Police in 2021, later joined the Congress party.
His wife Razia Sultana is a senior Congress leader who has been elected MLA from Malerkotla thrice.
