Yesterday evening, two sisters were getting married in Amroha, when a fight broke out over the amount to be paid by the groom for shoes. The bride’s sisters had hidden her shoes and allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 to return them.

CCTV footage from the venue showed people from both the families gathered outside the hall in a heated and animated argument when suddenly one of the men pushed the other. It escalated as more people joined in – collars were grabbed and men were pushed around.

Soon, chairs start flying and wedding guests start hitting and throwing themselves at each other. Some chairs broke on the ground.

A man came with a stick, several others took off their belts to attack each other. Elders from both sides and some women intervened and were seen trying to calm the situation but to no avail. The windows of the groom’s car parked outside were broken.

Police said that after this a settlement was reached between the two parties without any legal action.

Police officer Deep Kumar Pant said that no complaint has been filed, if a complaint is filed then action will be taken.
