Fearing class 10 exams, two girls from Bangladesh fled to Ajmer Sharif; rescued 8 days later

Two students from Hooghly in West Bengal were preparing to appear for the Class 10 exams, but due to lack of preparation for the exams, they fled from their home in Rishra to Ajmer Sharif.

After eight days of tracking, the Chandan Nagar police station traced the two girls and traveled to Rajasthan to bring them back.

Just three days before the Class 10 exams, the two girls left their residence and said they were going to attend a coaching class. However, they did not return after that.

On the evening of January 29, they called their parents and said they had encountered a problem and needed help. The parents soon filed a complaint with the Rishila police station.

Police swung into action and tracked the numbers, locals said. The commissioner personally monitored the case and traced it to find that they had boarded a train bound for Ajmer Sharif.

The Rajasthan police were asked to take them into custody, after which the Chandan Nagar police went to retrieve the two girls.

talking news18Amit P Javalgi, superintendent of police, Chandan Nagar, said: “We have shared information with all neighboring districts. We are in regular contact with the family of the missing girl. They have their mobile phones with them. Ajay A woman from Meir Sharif contacted one of the girls’ parents. We contacted the Rajasthan police and sent a team. We were able to locate the girls and take them to a shelter home to ensure their safety.”
