The President of the National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah visited the family of Syed Adil Hussain Shah on Saturday, who lost his life while protecting tourists during the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April, with 26 people, most of whom were killed.
Dr. Farooq assigned Adil’s father, Hyder Shah, a one -month basic salary to the concerned member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pahgam, Altaf Kalu at his residence in Pahgam.
Pahalgam Brevhart’s father Farooq Abdullah and other leaders thanked him for expressing solidarity with him and sharing his pain.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters, Dr. Reacting to the Query, Farooq said that it is time to review the Indus Water Treaty, saying that people are facing water crisis despite being a huge water resources of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said, “We have been saying this for a long time to review the Indus Water Treaty. We are facing immense difficulties due to this treaty. We are facing water crisis despite our rivers. We do not ask them to stop water for (Pakistan), but we also have the right over it,” he said.
He said that Jammu is facing water crisis. He said, “We tried to provide water to the residents of Jammu from Chenab. But the World Bank did not help us by saying that it comes under the Indus Water Treaty. It’s time to bring water from Chenab to Jammu,” he said.
“We are facing power crisis. We can generate thousands of MW of electricity from these rivers. We can never be deprived of electricity. We need to improve these issues,” Dr. Abdullah said.
He also said that the biggest message today is that tourists are not afraid and have defeated the Illal designs of the criminals of the Pahgam attack.
“Those who wanted to spread fear have lost. The terrorists involved in the Act are lost. It has been proved today that we are not afraid. Kashmir was and will always be a part of India,” he said- (KNO)
