atlanta police chief Billie Jo Cagle’s family reportedly praised for including her are plotting a mass shooting “They saved lives,” he said at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The 49-year-old man from Cartersville, Georgia, was arrested Monday morning after authorities responded to a tip from family members and found him inside the world’s busiest airport.
“This is a very difficult decision,” Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told reporters Tuesday about Cagle’s family alerting police. He added, “He saved his family member’s life yesterday.”
Police said they found an AR-15 assault rifle and 27 rounds of ammunition inside Cagle’s white Chevrolet pickup truck parked outside the airport.

Earlier in the morning, Cagle had threatened to “shoot up the airport” over a FaceTime call. Press release Federal charges against him were announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
“I’m at the airport, and I’m about to leave anyway,” Cagle said before suddenly hanging up while driving, federal prosecutors said. The person on the other end of the phone alerted the Cartersville Police Department.
Atlanta police were heard warning about the situation at the airport in audio recordings obtained by Bartow County dispatchers. fox 5 atlanta: “We got a call from our city that a guy was headed to the airport and threatening to shoot up the airport.”
Sergeant Tywanna Jones of the Atlanta Police Department was on the phone with Cartersville police and Cagle’s family, trying to figure out what she was wearing to help authorities track her down.

“I asked, ‘What was she wearing?’ And they told me he was wearing a blue polo. And I asked, ‘Was it a long sleeve polo or a short sleeve polo?’ And they were able to tell us that, again, it was a short-sleeve polo,” Jones said.
Officer Mysha Banks, who arrested Cagle, described how that information proved crucial in the search for Cagle.
“Once I got a description of the shirt he was wearing, a blue polo striped shirt, that’s when I was able to identify him,” she said.
Body camera footage of the arrest showed Cagle crying as he was forced to the ground and handcuffed.

Cagle faces state charges of terroristic threats, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He also faces federal charges of attempted violence at an international airport, interstate communication involving threats to injure another person and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
It’s not clear whether Cagle has an attorney.
He was convicted of a felony in 2000 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute nbc news,
NBC News reported that Cagle’s wife, Tiffany Beck Cagle, filed for divorce on Tuesday, accusing her husband of “cruel behavior” and a “habitual drug addiction.”
