Jalna: Shiv Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday sparked a debate in Maharashtra politics by saying that Devendra Fadnavis is an ‘accidental chief minister’.
He launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and termed it a “corrupt Janata Party”.
Referring to the ruling party’s move to organize a program on the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ celebrations on Friday, he also said that the BJP, which has looted ‘Bharat Mata’, has no right to say ‘Vande Mataram’.
Thackeray was speaking to reporters after interacting with farmers devastated by the natural disaster on the concluding day of his four-day visit to rain and flood-hit Marathwada.
The Shiv Sena-UBT chief also took a dig at Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar over his statement that farmers should develop the habit of repaying loans regularly instead of asking for forgiveness.
“Except his son, Ajit Pawar doesn’t want anyone to get anything for free (referring to the Pune land deal controversy involving a company linked to his son Parth Pawar).”
Thackeray also targeted Ajit Pawar, saying, “We are able to get food to eat because farmers are working hard despite adverse conditions. After stealing the parties (Shiv Sena and NCP), this (Mahayuti) government first came to power by stealing votes and now it is stealing land too.”
Referring to Deputy Chief Minister Pawar’s announcement about canceling the sale deeds of key Pune land transactions involving Partha Pawar and his company, the Shiv Sena-UBT chief said, “Since the Chief Minister gives clean chit to everyone, he has become a clean cheater. First, the Pune land transaction involving Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol came to light, the deal was cancelled. Similarly, the Mundava Koregaon land deal involved Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar. Following the related dispute, the sale deed has been cancelled.” Now another controversial land deal related to Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has come to light, all the culprits are in BJP and the Chief Minister has become a clean cheater.
Thackeray called on farmers to raise their voice against the state government for its apathy and neglect towards them.
He claimed, “If there is a spark in your heart then show it to this government.” If the spark of farmers is extinguished then the government will burn.
Speaking on farm loan waiver, Thackeray said boards should be put up in villages that they will not vote unless the state government implements the loan waiver.
Reiterating that the state government’s relief package of Rs 31,628 crore is not acceptable, he demanded that the government should immediately implement farm loan waiver to rebuild and revive distressed farmers due to severe damage caused by floods.
He also refuted the state government’s claim of depositing financial assistance in the bank accounts of farmers.
