New Delhi, November 5 (IANS) BJP national president JP Nadda on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accused him of “concocting stories” and preparing excuses ahead of the opposition’s possible defeat in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
In a video statement released hours after Rahul Gandhi’s press conference alleging “25 lakh fake voters” in the Haryana assembly elections, Nadda said the Congress leader has already “accepted defeat in Bihar” and is trying to divert attention from the ground reality.
Nadda said, “Elections are being held in Bihar, but Rahul Gandhi is sitting in Delhi and holding a fake press conference. He knows that the grand alliance is losing, so he is already looking for excuses.” He said Gandhi had once blamed EVMs without evidence, now he raises questions about Special Intensive Review (SIR) only to “mislead the public”.
Nadda claimed that the Supreme Court had given a clean chit to EVMs and the Election Commission had repeatedly invited Gandhi to provide evidence of electoral manipulation.
“If he has evidence, why doesn’t he submit it formally? Why doesn’t he go to court? His only aim is to defame the country and instigate the youth,” he alleged.
Saying that elections are won by “hard work at the grassroots level and winning the trust of the people, not by drama and photoshoots,” Nadda accused the Congress leader of shielding infiltrators and spreading “foreign-inspired misinformation”.
The BJP chief compared Gandhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a leader focused on development and who brought 25 crore people out of poverty in the last 11 years. He highlighted India’s economic progress from 11th to 4th position globally and said that under the leadership of PM Modi, the country is moving towards becoming the world’s number 1 economy.
Nadda said reports showed that “grand alliance candidates are hesitant in calling Rahul Gandhi himself for rallies,” claiming that the alliance was facing “certain defeat” in Bihar.
