The Federal Aviation Administration on Friday urged U.S. aircraft operators to “exercise caution” when flying over the eastern region Pacific Ocean near ocean Mexico, Central America and part South Americaciting “military activities” and satellite navigation interference.

The warning was issued in a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) FAA. “There are potential risks to aircraft at all altitudes, including overflights and during the arrival and departure phases of flights,” they said. Such notices are issued regularly in any area where hostilities are taking place nearby.

The move follows nearly four months of U.S. military strikes against ships in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific that it claims are trafficking drugs. According to the Trump administration, the United States has carried out a “massive attack” on Venezuela after 35 known attacks killed at least 115 people. President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were arrested and transported to New York, where they face federal drug trafficking charges.
