Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav was arrested in connection with the snake venom rave party case and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody on Sunday. Yadav faces charges under the Noida Wildlife Act for using snake venom at a rave party. The 26-year-old YouTuber refuted the accusations.

What’s happening here?

The case involves the use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a rave party in Noida last year. Yadav is accused of planting snake venom at his parties and using snakes in video shoots.

In November last year, police busted a snake smuggling ring after raiding a banquet hall in Sector 51 in Noida. Five people, including four snake charmers, were arrested at a banquet hall for supplying snake venom. Nine snakes including cobras and venomous snakes were also found in it.

Forensic investigations later revealed that cobra and krait venom was used in samples seized there.

The breakthrough came after a trap was set by the NGO Animal Protection.

A rave party is a high-energy dance party focused on the youth-oriented rave culture, which often gets into trouble with authorities over drug use and safety reasons.

How did Elvish Yadav get involved?

Sources said when asked about the snake in the video shoot, Yadav told police that the videos were arranged by Bollywood singer Fazl Priya.

The five people arrested in the case told police that they had supplied snake venom at a rave allegedly organized by Elvish Yadav.

Their arrest came after PFA member Gaurav Gupta lodged a police complaint saying that he had contacted Elvish Yadav for snake venom as part of a trap. During the call, Gupta was given a phone number and he subsequently contacted the five accused, police said.

Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi also accused Yadav of being involved in illegal sales of snake venom and sought his immediate arrest.

Mr. Yadav, however, denied any involvement in the case.

What is snake venom addiction?

Snake venom addiction is an unusual form of drug abuse in which people deliberately expose themselves to snake venom to obtain the intoxicating effects. The venom contains neurotoxins that can cause a range of symptoms, such as intoxication. This form of addiction, also known as envenomia, is extremely dangerous and life-threatening and is uncommon in India.

The effects of snake venom are unpredictable and potentially fatal, lasting for days. If things go on like this, it may lead to physical and psychological dependence on users.

The use and possession of drugs, including substances derived from snake venom, are governed by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. But the police reportedly did not invoke the NDPS Act against Mr Yadav as no drugs were found at the spot. an official.
