Gurugram, Nov 5 (IANS) Full of family warmth and political symbolism, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar on Wednesday visited the Gurugram residence of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president Abhay Singh Chautala.
The visit, which Chautala has described as an “invitation”, has deep emotional resonance for the Chautala family, who consider Dhankhar both a respected elder and a guiding force in public life.
Abhay Chautala, grandson of legendary farmer leader Devi Lal, shared a heartfelt message after the visit, praising the couple’s simplicity, humility and dedication to the nation.
“His presence is always a source of immense strength for us,” Chautala said in his Instagram post. He said that Dhankhar’s blessings and support will continue to inspire his family to serve the people with greater commitment and determination.
Dhankhar, who resigned as Vice President earlier this year, has maintained close ties with the Chautala family, especially given Devi Lal’s role in advising him during his early political career.
Although the visit was framed as a personal interaction, Chautala’s public expression of reverence for Dhankhar may signal a new alignment of values between the two leaders rooted in shared heritage and rural advocacy.
Underscoring the emotional depth of the meeting, Chautala said, “I pray to God for his good health and long life.”
“Their support and guidance will inspire us to fulfill our responsibilities even better.” Such moments of personal connection between seasoned leaders and regional stalwarts may well shape the relationship between the two stalwarts of the farming community.
For now, this meeting stands as a quiet affirmation of mutual respect and an enduring commitment to public service.
Chautala has been elected to the Haryana Assembly four times since 2010.
He was also the 10th President of the Indian Olympic Association.
Furthermore, he also served as the President of the Boxing Federation of India.
