Itanagar, Nov 7 (IANS) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General KT Paranaik (Retd) on Friday said Vande Mataram is the timeless song that stirred the soul of India’s freedom movement.

Addressing the function organized to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram at the State Banquet Hall, Itanagar, the Governor said that in today’s world, patriotism is reflected in honesty in work, sympathy in actions and sincerity in our every decision.

He urges the youth to serve with sincerity, lead with compassion and maintain the unity and harmony that form the essence of India.

Lieutenant General Paranayak (Retd) joined the people of Arunachal Pradesh in the nationwide mass singing of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ and paid a heartfelt tribute to the song that continues to inspire generations.

Greeting the people of the State on the historic occasion, the Governor said that Vande Mataram reminds us of our glorious past and today stands as a vibrant celebration of unity, courage and our unbreakable bond with our motherland.

The Governor reminded that Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in his iconic novel Anandamath in 1875. Over time, it became the mantra of defiance, the melody of sacrifice and the heartbeat of a nation awakening to its destiny. He said the song resonated at rallies, inspired courage in the hearts of jailed people and became an enduring symbol of patriotism for countless freedom fighters.

The Governor said that Vande Mataram still shines as a symbol of India’s unity, dignity and resilience. He said, it reminds us that our greatest strength lies not only in our immense diversity, but also in the emotional bond that binds every Indian to a motherland.

He called on everyone to renew their commitment to the ideals embodied in the song: love for the motherland, pride in our heritage and responsibility towards future generations. Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Prof. SK Nayak, Chief Secretary (in-charge) Pawan Kumar Sain and Prof. of RGU. PK Nayak also shared his views on the importance of the national anthem.

People from all walks of life, including Tessam Pongte, Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and government officials and students from Goa and Uttarakhand attended the commemoration event, making it truly an inclusive celebration of national pride.
