Esther Gay met with the family of the girl who murdered daughter Brianna and said she was willing to “work with her.”
Ms Gay told a “positive and respectful” meeting in Warrington where she met Scarlett Jenkinson’s mother and uncle who were behind the murder plot Brianna,16.
On February 11 last year, she lured Brianna to a linear park where she was stabbed 28 times in the head, neck, chest and back with a hunting knife.

Ms Gay said in a statement that “the Scarlett family’s lives have been changed forever”, adding: “It was a positive and respectful meeting where we got to know each other.”

She said they had “discussed the challenges of family and parenting” last week, and Scarlett’s mother, a former teacher, spoke about her mindfulness training in schools and her “peace of mind” campaign to better protect children on social media and mobile phones very interested.
“She agrees things need to change, so we are looking at ways she can support both campaigns,” Ms Gay said. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with her moving forward.
“I don’t have any anger or resentment towards Scarlett’s mum and the fact that it shows is that tragedy can have a profound impact.
“It’s been a tough year, but I’ve been practicing mindfulness, which I believe has helped build resilience, compassion and empathy.
“Meeting Scarlett’s mom reminded me how much this means to me.”

After Jenkinson was sentenced, Her family said they were “very sorry” In a statement to the Warrington Guardian.
They added: “Our lives are in turmoil but our immediate focus is on ensuring we don’t do anything against the wishes of Brianna’s family.
“We sincerely thank Esther Gay for her selflessness and compassion for our family. Her compassion was overwhelming and we are forever grateful.”

Ms Gay also met with the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed her campaign and also spoke with Sir Keir Starmer Early March.
She called the meetings “a great start” but said: “Only by working together can we make real change; coming together with the common goal of making the world a better and safer place.”
She also announced plans to set up a community interest company to continue promoting mindfulness and mobile phone use.
