Fans traveling to England and Scotland have been warned about the strength of German beer ahead of Euro 2024.
Official guidance from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) urges people to “drink responsibly” as the continent attends this summer’s tournaments.

The FCDO advises: “Beer can be stronger than in the UK, so drink responsibly, know your limits and respect local laws. If you drink too much you may not be allowed into the stadium.”
According to Drinkware, the average strength of UK lagers and lagers is around 4.4%, but in Germanybeers tend to be 4.7% to 5.4%.

The FCDO also called on fans to “respect local cultural sensitivities” and be aware of the consequences if they fail to do so.
Around 500,000 Britons are expected to travel to Germany, where the competition will be held in ten German cities from June 14 to July 14.
Scotland will face hosts Germany in Munich on the opening day.
England begin their campaign two days later against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen.
