Unai Emery Defending his decision not to shake Mikel Arteta’s hand, he claims it was ‘cold’ at the Emirates Stadium after his former club arsenal Finally won with a score of 4-1.

Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to second-half goals from Gabriel, Martin Zubimendi, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus. Ollie Watkins Scored a consolation goal for Aston Villa in stoppage time.

Villa had previously won a club-record 11 consecutive games, but they were beaten in brutal fashion by Mikel Arteta’s side, a defeat that left them six points adrift of the title race.

After the final whistle, Arteta briefly hugged the backroom staff before heading to the opponent’s dugout to greet Emery.

However, the Spaniard was already in the tunnel after shaking hands with fourth official Thomas Kirk.

“It’s simple,” Emery said when asked about the lack of handshakes in his post-match press conference.

“You can see it. After the game, I always move very quickly, I shake hands and go to the dressing room with my coach and my players.

“I’m waiting, I’m waiting. He’s happy, of course he’s happy. He’s with his coach. I decided to go in. But for me it’s no problem.”

Emery further confirmed his decision to Sky Sports, adding: “My daily routine is always to go meet the opposing coach, shake hands and go in. If he doesn’t follow the same rules, I can’t wait… It’s cold.”

Arteta, who succeeded Emery as Arsenal coach, said of the flash point after the game: “You saw it, but it’s okay, it’s all good. It’s part of the game, it’s not unusual at all.”

After passing by the Wolves, everton Arsenal were far from their fluid best in the first half of their first three games against Brighton, with expectations of ending a 22-year wait for the title seemingly hanging over them.

But they came out lively after the break, which will serve as a warning to City ahead of Thursday’s game against Sunderland.

“I’m delighted,” Arteta said of his team’s outstanding performance. “We play every three days and today we played against an opponent who has won 11 games in a row.

“They are a good team and difficult to play against and we knew we were going to have difficulties throughout the game.

“We talked about how difficult it was going to be emotionally and we struggled in the first 10 minutes. Then we adjusted and got more control. We couldn’t score but in the second half we were outstanding.

“We performed better in everything. The timing was better, individual goals were achieved in an extraordinary way and everything we did was very efficient.

“Unlike the last few games where we’ve been in a lot of big situations, today we were very productive and accurate to change things up.”
