London (AP) – Emergency services ran for a small plane crash scene at London Southnd Airport on Sunday.
There was no details on where the aircraft was going or how many people were revealed on the board.
In a statement on social media, the airport confirmed a “serious incident”, in which it included a general aviation aircraft.
Images posted on social media show a pile of fire and black smoke emanating from the accident site. The aircraft involved in this is called 12 meters (39 feet) tall.
Witness John Johnson, who was at the airport with his family, stated that he saw a “big fire ball” after the aircraft, “first crashed the head in the ground.”
He said, “It began to do heavy banks on its left to its left, and then within a few seconds of this happening, it crashed more or more in the ground,” he said. “There was a big fire ball.”
Johnson said that before the aircraft came in a position for the take-off, he and his family waved the pilots and “they all waved on us.”
After the accident, Johnson said that the fire service of the airport directly responded, two fire engine was sent to the accident site, followed by local police, ambulances and fire services.
The Essex police said it was alerted for a “serious incident” at a relatively small airport before 4 pm local time, which is about 45 miles (72 km) in the east of the capital.
“We are now working with all emergency services at the scene and the work will continue for several hours,” the Essex Police said.
As a precaution due to closeness to the incident, the police vacated a local golf club and rugby club.
Local member of Parliament, David Burton-Sampson urged people to stay away and allow emergency services to do their work.
“My thoughts are involved with everyone,” he said.
According to the airport website, four flights closed on Sunday afternoon were canceled.
