This may surprise a lot of people, but Elton John has repeatedly supported President Trump.

No, he’s not a full-on MAGA supporter, but he is not taking the opportunity to denigrate President Trump despite the MSM trying desperately to get him to do so.

Quite the contrary in fact!

Just this week he went on record saying that President Trump has a chance to go down as one of the greatest people of all time:

Pop icon Elton John has revealed he believes Donald Trump could become “one of the greatest presidents in history”. https://t.co/GWbPQYBTHI

– Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) 1 December 2025

From breitbart,

The “Rocketman” singer told Variety that Trump’s decision to end the AIDS epidemic could cement his place in history. He also appreciated the bipartisan support for that goal.

“Lindsey Graham said it was probably the best bang for your buck,” John said of a delegation he led to South Africa.

He added, “The bipartisanship makes common sense. To see us come so far with medical and scientific advances, and to think that this is the only disease that can be completely cured in one’s lifetime.” “President Trump has probably solved the peace problem. If he wants to go down as one of the greatest presidents in history … if he ended AIDS, it would really be a feather in his cap.”

While Elton John never supported the president and even refused to sing at his inauguration in 2016 despite their long friendship, the singer previously said he found it funny that the president nicknamed North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un “Little Rocket Man” — a reference to his iconic song.

“I laughed. I thought it was brilliant. I just thought, ‘Good on you, Donald.’ “I have always been friendly to them and I thank them for their support,” John said.

The singer later clarified on Instagram that his words were taken out of context, adding that he appreciated the president’s love for his music.

“Part of an interview I gave is being taken out of context and misrepresented as a personal endorsement of Donald Trump,” John wrote. “Not that. I was just acknowledging the fact that Trump has been a fan of my music for a long time, and historically he’s been very gracious to me about it.”

Here’s the video clip they’re referencing above (which was from September 2024):

Elton really has a history of surprising people by doing the opposite of what they expected.

When Eminem was criticized for using the words “fag” and “faggot”, it was actually Elton John who came to his defense:

Eminem’s homophobia controversy

Eminem faced intense backlash, especially from LGBTQ+ advocacy groups such as glad (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), primarily for the use of homophobic slurs, including “faggot”, in his songs.

  • Lyrics: Controversy peaked around the release of their album Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, in which the song was considered violent and hateful towards gay people by critics. A line from the song quoted repeatedly “Criminal”: “My words are like jagged-edged daggers that will stab you in the head, whether you are a fag or a lez…”

  • His defence: Eminem often defended his work by claiming that the hateful lyrics were an expression of his alter ego, slim Shadyor were not meant to specifically target homosexuals, but were used as general insults, and these lines were often misinterpreted or taken out of context.

amazing performance with sir elton john But 43rd Grammy Awards in February 2001 It was a powerful and controversial statement made to address the criticism.

  • Display: Eminem and Elton John perform Eminem’s hit song, “Stan.” Elton John, who is openly gay and a major LGBTQ+ icon, played keyboards and sang the chorus (originally sampled from Dido’s song “Thank You”).

  • statement: This collaboration was highly unexpected and many saw it as Eminem’s way of publicly refuting claims of homophobia. The duo’s appearance, which ended with them hugging and holding hands, sent a clear message to the media and their critics.

  • Elton’s Perspective: Elton John defended his decision, saying that he was a big fan of Eminem’s music and “wanted to build walls between people rather than tear them down.” He said that if he thought Eminem was truly disgusting, he would not have participated.

🤝Results and Relationships

The performance did not completely silence all critics, but it significantly changed the narrative around Eminem. Importantly, this duet forged a true and lasting friendship between the two artists.

  • friendship: Eminem and Elton John remain close friends. Elton John has been a frequent source of moral support for Eminem, including helping him with his struggles with sobriety.

  • continued support: Years later, Elton John continued to publicly defend Eminem, even jokingly revealing that Eminem had sent him and his husband, David Furnish, an unconventional wedding gift – a pair of diamond cock rings – which Elton said was proof that Eminem was not the homophobe he was made out to be.
